The Darling Family Guest Book

Comments:
My Mothers mother was Margaret Affleck Darling who lived/grew up in Biggar in Scotland (born I think in about 1896/7). Any connections out there that I can touch base with and send back some feedback to my mom who is quite old and frail now, and would really appreciate it?

Thanks in advance

Russell

I am the last Darling in my family. I would love to know if I have any royal relatives back in England or other places in Europe.

Thank you for the work you have put into this site. I came across it as I was investigating Sibella for a story I am writing for the newsletter of the Women's Pioneer Society. My great great grandmother's brother was William Lacy. He left the ship and changed his name to Smith married another traveller, Rebecca Westmacott.
May I please printout the diary entry for Sibella so I can digest the story of the voyage. May I use the fact that William was third Masters mate, I hadn't known that before.
I shall of course acknowledge you and your site in my story. Mr. Treloar and Mr. Lacy must have known each other well.

Hi Daniella,

The crest is part historical and partly designed for my branch of the family as below:

The Coat of arms is flanked by Pegasus horses, on each side.

The background is divided into quarters using the colours Azure (blue) and Terracotta, which denotes loyalty and truth. The yellow cross is representative of the Christian Faith.

(Family connections >
The Coat of arms consists of the three pears denoting the families Worcestershire origins in the top left quarter of the shield, followed by the three main professions of the family, a hammer and chisel for the stonemason, shoes for the cordwainer (shoemaker) and scissors for the tailor. < Family connections)

The crest is a Knight crowned by rubies, a hand sits atop him holding a heart proper.

MOTTO; Dei Donum

Translation: The gift of God.

And below the Motto:
Aye, Be Honest, with the Darling family name.

Hi, another Darling here. Our family originates from Scotland. Interesting page. Did you create the coat of arms yourself or is actually historical? Dxxxx

Getting straight to the chase, my birth name is Belle Amelia Darling and I believe that I am a descendent of the Darling Family. I have been searching a long while for some more information and came across this website after some time. So I've come to see if anyone on here might recall an adoption in England from 2004. If anything rings a bell, letting me know would be greatly appreciated!

Great informative site. I am descended from Ella Florence Darling and Joseph Harry Green (my grand-parents) who moved from Ramco, South Australia, to Roleystone, Western Australia, via Victoria. Great help for tracing one branch of our family tree. Thanks.
