Comments: My ancestor John Darling, son of John, baker, married to Mary Pitcaithley in 1860,daughter of John Pitcaithey, in Edinburgh. Married 1860 to Elizabeth Ferguson, sailed for Adelaide in Barque Archilles in c. 1835, and founded important family business: in wheat, wool. His eldest son founded BHP (Broken Hill Pty - mining). We do have more info re these ancestors, but none of those who remained in Scotland. Our ancestors here were quite prolific - John Darling 1 had 7 sons and 1 daughter. All were "well looked after" re properties.I am descended from his third son, James, (my great grand father)all on land, as was my dad. I am a teacher, married to an artist, so I suppose I have broken the mould!! I would to hear from you. Jill Jopson (nee D)

Comments: My dad was James R. Darling, born to Madaline and Leonard Darling II in Syracuse NY. He had 5 brothers and sisters. He recentilly passed away, and I'm trying to gather as much family history as I can for my two boys. If anyone has any information on this "branch" of Darlings, please feel free to contact me. Thank you, and many blessings... Noelle

Comments: Very Interesting to learn about my family name. It was interesting looking through the family history, none of my grandparents or great grandparents were listed but it is neat to see how the name traces back.
